Our booking clerk team is delighted to have Dominika Popko back on board part-time after her maternity leave.
The proud mum now splits her time between looking after her daughter Maya, who is almost one year old, booking interpreters and being a Polish interpreter, mainly by video and telephone.
It was 12 years ago when Dominika came over to London from Poland with her partner to spend a year brushing up on her English. They decided to stay much longer. Trained as a beauty technician and studying travel and tourism, Dominika worked for Thomas Cook for six years and then joined Enable2.
Dominika is looking forward to moving into Enable2’s new premises. However, coming back to work hasn’t been easy after being with her baby girl 24/7 for a year.
She said: “It’s good for me to be back in the office, talking to colleagues in English and adult language again. I can also see how much the company has developed. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to work part-time so that I can balance my home and work life. My mum gets so excited about coming over from Poland to meet Maya as she is her first grandchild. ”
The best thing about being an interpreter
Dominika added: “The best thing about being an interpreter is that you get to talk to so many different people. You also find out more about the many areas they work in such as the NHS and local authority. You have the chance to really help people. I have worked as an interpreter for Hope for Justice which was very rewarding. I could see I really had an impact helping people who were in trouble.”
