As a new member of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), Enable2 have won their New Member of the Year Award, whilst Yasmin Khan, Enable2’s Client Services Manager was the delighted winner of their Project Manager of the Year Award.
The Language Industry Awards are held by the ATC every year to showcase the excellence of their members, and their dedication and professionalism within the interpreting and translation industry. To be a member, translation companies must commit to and adhere to a strict Code of Conduct.
“We are delighted to be recognised for what we have achieved. We constantly strive for improvement and never stand still; we use technology and innovative approaches to deliver high-quality language services, so it’s wonderful for our industry membership organisation to recognise this with two awards. We’re very proud,” said Liz Weatherill, Enable2’s Managing Director.
The judges said that Enable2 won the New Member of the Year Award, “as a result of their use of innovative processes and state-of-the-art technology to achieve impressive growth. The judging panel commended Enable2 for their commitment as a social enterprise, running multilingual community projects that include ensuring accessibility of healthcare, the wellbeing of refugees and the smooth-running of children’s hospital admissions”.
Yasmin Khan, Enable2’s Client Services Manager won the Project Manager of the Year Award for her ground-breaking work with the Yorkshire Cancer Research and the Bradford Districts and Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commissioning Groups on bowel screening. The judges said she, “won for her life-changing achievements of the past 12 months, working with healthcare providers and charities to ensure the success of new initiatives.”
The judging panel especially commended Yasmin’s skills in coordinating translations and providing interpreting solutions, which have increased Enable2’s efficiencies and even provided the company with a new USP.
Yasmin’s amazing work has been to successfully lead and coordinate a project that uses interpreters to encourage people who wouldn’t otherwise take-up bowel cancer screenings. Districts previously had the lowest take-up of bowel screenings in the country, but now Yasmin works with groups of interpreters to call and speak to individual residents about the importance of using the screening kit and take-up has exceeded all expectations.
“We use our knowledge of communities to approach them in a sensitive way. We talk to them individually over the phone to explain the importance to them and their families of carrying out the screening. We’re very proud of the part we’ve played in the long-term health of our residents,” says Yasmin.
Yasmin was also recognised for her project management skills in managing the Client Services Team at Enable2 to deliver a fulfilment rate of 98% to clients, one of the highest in the industry.
“We work hard at Enable2, to deliver language services to our clients that are value for money and increase their own capacity to support more people. Awards like this highlight the importance of language services in the community and help to share ideas and best practice of how the right services, delivered in the right way, can have lasting, positive impacts,” said Liz Weatherill.
